Lesson Adaptations
I have provided each student with a planning sheet. This will be especially helpful for students who might have difficulty reading and organizing lots of information. For students who require greater assistance, I will go through each of the resources I have provided and highlight information that I think is important. It will be easier for students to read through the various articles if the important information is pre-highlighted.
I have also provided videos as a resource. This will be helpful for my visual and auditory learners, as well as students who have difficulty reading. In fact, the articles I chose to include in my resources all provide visual references to compliment the written text.
I incorporated a variety of reading levels in the articles I chose for resources. While the majority are on level reads, I included a few that were at lower and higher levels. This was to prevent higher-level readers from becoming bored and to allow lower-level readers to participate in the activities.
Many of the activities I have included incorporate team work. It is my hope that the students will be able to help each other out as they learn to work together as a team.
I have provided the instructions to all of the activities in print. If students have difficulty interpreting instructions, I will make sure to reexplain them in person to ensure that each child understands what is expected of them.
Since the students will mostly be working in groups, I will enforce the "3 before me" rule, in which students must talk to each other (at least 3 other students) before coming up to me with a question. This will make me more available to students who are struggling with the Web Quest.
