You Pick Experiments:
Informal assessment: Teacher needs to make sure students understand the power of each of the renewable energy sources. As students are experimenting, make sure to ask questions that reveal students understanding of the experiment.
How to make solar tea: The sun can be used to heat, and even cook.
Water Purification: The sun has the power to purify dirty water.
Water Wheel: Water is powerful enough to spin blades, which in turn turns the generator, which produces electricity.
Under Pressure: The closer to the bottom of the carton, the more water is above and the more weight is pressing down from above. The more weight, the more water pressure. And the more water pressure, the further away the stream will go and the faster it will go. This water pressure is able to spin the blades of a turbine, which turns the generator, which produces electricity.
Testing the Wind: Students will be able to identify whether locations have high or low wind speed and the direction of the wind using a compass and string. Locations with a high wind speed are more favorable to build Wind Turbines.
Build a Barometer: High winds create more pressure than low winds.
